Librarians Run for the Cure team
Sunday, October 4th, 2009

As members of different library communities and library associations in the National Capital Region, we are
pleased to run or walk together this year to raise money to support meaningful breast cancer research, education and awareness programs.

This is a disease that has affected many of us:

  • In 2009, an estimated 22,700 women and 180 men in Canada will be diagnosed with breast cancer. On average, that is about 437 women diagnosed every week. An estimated 5,400 women and 50 men will die from breast cancer in Canada.
  • On average, 431 Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer every week.
  • One in 9 women is expected to develop breast cancer during her lifetime; one in 28 will die of it. *

The Librarians Run for the Cure national team is in its 5th year this year, and our Ottawa team is in its third. Last year, we were the biggest “Librarians” team in the country!

We’re proud to be part of the largest, single day, volunteer-led fundraising event for breast cancer.

Join us by following the links below or by e-mailing Ottawa/Gatineau team captain, Alexandra Yarrow at Alexandra.Yarrow BiblioOttawaLibrary ca
