Freedom to read week event – save the date

Your intrepid LANCR executive have their collective noses to the grindstone planning our 2nd annual Freedom to read week event. This year, we’re co-hosting an event with the English department at the University of Ottawa!

The event will include a round table about censorship, book banning, and “dangerous words” in general. Confirmed guests include Alan Cumyn, author of The Famished Lover, past chair of the writers in prison committee of PEN Canada and
first vice chair of The Writers’ Union of Canada, and Diana Pepall, Manager of the Ottawa Public Library’s Collection Management department.

This “formal” part of the evening will be followed by a pub night with banned books trivia questions and a Bookcrossing banned book exchange.

Save the date! Monday, February 22nd, 2010 starting at 6 pm. Details TBA!

Meanwhile, git yerself all riled up….
