Exciting times for library buildings in the National Capital…
Yesterday, the $38.6-million City of Ottawa Archives and Ottawa Public Library Materials Centre (longest name ever!) opened in a lovely ceremony attended by various politicians, the City Librarian, the City Archivist, staff of both OPL and the archives, representatives of two Friends groups, and interested observers (not to mention the town crier and a bagpiper!) Read about it here or here; or watch a video report here.
Last Friday, the provincial Liberals unveiled their 10-year infrastructure plan, including $16 million for Carleton University Library to add two floors and a glass façade to its library, and$30 million for new multimedia labs at the University of Ottawa Library.
[P.S. Photos of last week’s LANCR AGM and anniversary party forthcoming.. I promise!]
